Community Life
The Community Life Team leads the congregation in living out our vision for mutual care and fellowship. Regular noon potluck meals provide opportunity for bringing the congregation together. Other social activities, like neighborhood barbecues, star gazing or movie nights, provide occasion to invite others to join us. A Caring Team pays attention to special needs in the congregation.
Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. ~ Hebrews 10:24
Christian Education
The ministry of Education at Groffdale Mennonite Church endeavors to provide a variety of opportunities for persons to grow in their Christian faith by studying the Bible and by learning to know other believers. A Sunday School program is offered each week for all ages, from children through adults with competent teachers providing instruction and leading discussion.
Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ~ II Timothy 2:15
Missions and Service
Groffdale takes seriously Jesus’ call to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” This may be sending one or more young adults to go for a year to live in a village or city on another continent. Regularly the congregation supports families serving with Eastern Mennonite Missions or other sending mission organizations.
A group of skilled women gather together monthly to sew quilts or infant blankets, diapers or gowns. In between, many women sew products at home. Many of the finished products go to Mennonite Central Committee to be shared with refugees or other areas of need around the world.
Groffdale Family Night and Coffee House
A five-week winter program entitled Groffdale Family Night and Coffee House runs during the month of February on Wednesday evenings. An adult Bible study along with 4 or 5 other classes are offered for adults and teens. These could be a women’s book study, crafts, current events, finances and a variety of other topics. Classes for children of all ages are provided including a nursery.
All are welcome to join us! Family Night provides a non-threatening atmosphere for all participants—neighbors, friends and family. Coffee House provides a time to grab a snack and fellowship with class members and others.
Administrative Team
The Administrative Team coordinates the congregational ministries of finance, property, pastoral and administrative staffing and review, and leader-congregational relationships. Our hope is that a smooth flowing of these areas will allow our pastors and elders to concentrate on the mission of equipping the congregation for worship, nurture, and outreach in the community.
The service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. ~ II Corinthians 9:12 NIV
